S24(6) Lysi - Promoted to Beta 1
Ahh, the glorious tweaked water…
The sprint is over and Lysi finally gets a beta. Two weeks of absolute carnage, stabilisation, and a full round of LL patching later, the client is now solid enough to use as a daily driver.
Unlike earlier S24 builds, this release has been a focused, unapologetically as a KV first effort. Anything that didn’t meet the bar was cut. Everything that stayed is sharper, faster, and most deliberate!
What didn’t make it
External windows: Inventory outside the main view worked, but not well enough to ship. It will likely return during the DX11 migration work.
Top‑bar blend: Interesting idea, but caused more trouble than it solved. Shelved for now.
Sometimes the best optimisation is knowing when to bin something.
What’s in this build
• Reworked low‑level settings with over 86 exposed tweaks, including a lot unique to S24.
• Tunable SSR water and a rebuilt SSR system. Water finally behaves and looks the way it should.
• Improved shadows with tunable controls and better performance scheduling.
• Updated 3D system with a new camera method used throughout the viewer.
• Performance patches for shadows, particles, and general render prodding.
• Improved effects code, including a Motion Blur implementation that (to my eyes) outperforms the upcoming LL version.
• Enhanced profiles, a quick chat bar, and more accurate stats including real FPS based on GPU‑displayed frames.
• More vcpkg libraries, complete removal of Python from the build, and a fully revamped CMake system with one‑click PowerShell builds.
• A fourth skin (WIP) and all the latest LL patches integrated.
There’s more I could have pushed, but now is the time for a steady period of refinement, fixes, and fine‑tuning.
Enjoy Build 3192 – Beta 1
Much love,
KL
