S24 and Low Level Tuning

The client now drops with build 2100, which is the last beta before we move into the feature add stage :)

The viewer is approximatly 125+ commits ahead of develop, and has been compiled with full optimization. But I wanted to use this post to talk about the low level tuning and its application.
Fundamentally the settings exposed both new LL ones and my own control the client at a very deep level.
And for most mortals offer little benefit, that being said for content creation and testing they do offer some very intriguing possibilities, namely how does my product look to someone with a slower less powerful CPU or to an end user with a less generous GPU? The ability to control Vram and Texture decoding and limit or manipulate the hardware given over to SL is handy to say the least. Sure its not the same as testing on a real machine, but for the new higher res textures and all the latest rendering code , what exactly does your product look like on a 6 core spud with a 4gb 960gtx?

Well I guess you can now find out :) Most settings will require a restart to stick and all are pretty much persistent so the usual warnings are given.

And as is the case with all my builds, a firm understanding of cache clearing and technical know how is automatically assumed, I have always maintained that all TPV's are fun in one way or another. But I always insist people use Offcial Clients for any serious business (me included!)

Anyway have a wonderful weekend!

Much Love,
KL
