S24 and Hardware Requirements

Midnight at the den :)

Just a quick Post to save some potential heartache, The viewer is compiled on Windows 11, with the current latest version of VS2022.. Meaning it uses a windows 11 SDK, which Windows 10 may take a dislike too. It also assumes you have a CPU with over 4 cores and unlike the default client also assumes you possess AVX2.

In essence anything less than a Haswell Intel chip probably wont work.

So to run down the numbers in busy areas this client with ultra settings can certainly devour over 8gb of vram. It defaults to a 32gb heap stack, uses a default 17 concurrent http connections, does not sleep plugins, assumes 4 minimum decode threads but will take 8 if available and will gladly consume more with a preset limit of 16. It also will by default where possible use multiple GL contexts for textures.

It will also allow over 64 frames to be stored for use in the render. To be blunt it will require a pretty strong machine to run... and can enable all sort of other goodies with server support.

Current Test Systems:

7900XTX 24gb vram : 64gb Ram : 9800X3D Cpu

Nvidia 4070ti Super 16gb vram : 32gb Ram : 7900X Cpu

Laptop 4070 /intel 13th gen - rog strix gaming. (for the low end)

The result ->  miles may vary!

Well hopefully that clears up a few potential showstoppers.

KL.
